Michelyn grew up in Banff National Park, AB, on the territories of the Stoney Nakoda, Tsuu T’ina, and Blackfoot Confederacy (present day Treaty 7). She holds a Bachelor of Arts (2024) from the University of Victoria, consisting of a double major in environmental studies and Indigenous studies, as well as a minor in business. In her final two years at the University of Victoria, she restarted and co-lead the Environmental Studies Student Association (ESSA), in addition to being a TA for the university’s Department of Indigenous Studies. 

Since moving to Southern Vancouver Island in 2020, Michelyn has become even more of a travel and outdoors enthusiast, often spending her free time surfing, hiking, playing volleyball, and exploring new places.
