We took our signature Indigenous Awareness training program to a whole new level when we developed Working Effectively with Indigenous Peoples® based on participant needs and requests. Extensive field testing confirmed that any training should be designed to help individuals work effectively with Indigenous Peoples rather than just raise awareness. In this Training, our goal is to help you get beyond Indigenous awareness to practical skills and tools that can be applied everywhere.
Practical on a national scale
Even before the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) delivered its recommendations all levels of government and the corporate sector were expanding their Indigenous relations knowledge and skill sets, and were actively looking for people with those skills. Now with recommendations like the #57 & #92 there is even more of an appetite to implement and show action.
Professional Development and Training for Public Servants
#57. We call upon federal, provincial, territorial, and municipal governments to provide education to public servants on the history of Aboriginal peoples, including the history and legacy of residential schools, the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, Treaties and Aboriginal rights, Indigenous law, and Aboriginal–Crown relations. This will require skills-based training in intercultural competency, conflict resolution, human rights, and anti-racism.
Business and Reconciliation
#92.iii. Provide education for management and staff on the history of Aboriginal peoples, including the history and legacy of residential schools, the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, Treaties and Aboriginal rights, Indigenous law, and Aboriginal–Crown relations. This will require skills-based training in intercultural competency, conflict resolution, human rights, and anti-racism.
This training gives you the opportunity to differentiate yourself from the crowd, boost your career, and help employers fulfill the requirements of the TRC calls-to-action.
Our Working Effectively with Indigenous Peoples® training is a BC Law Society accredited educational activity.
