First Nations Engagement in BC an EMA Event

First Nations Engagement in BC an EMA Event

The Environmental Managers Association of BC (EMA) is hosting an information session on September 18, 2014 at the Simon Fraser downtown campus in Vancouver. "First Nations Engagement in BC" is a half day session featuring experts sharing their knowledge and insight on topics such as Aboriginal consultation and engagement, legal issues concerning addressing Aboriginal interests and rights, as well as a session on the hot topic of the summer............the Tsilqot'in decision.

Here is some post event follow up.  Thanks to the EMA of BC for this Certificate of Appreciation.

Karey Brooks and Jeff Langlois of Janes Freedman Kyle Law Corporation provided a presentation titled, "Aboriginal Law Update - A Review of Recent Significant Cases”

EMA is a non profit organization, formed in the early 1990s "To encourage education, share knowledge among members and create a forum for environmental management issues"

I think it's really great that organizations such as EMA see the value in hosting events that educate and broaden the understanding of engagement with First Nations. To me it is an indication that a positive shift in attitude towards Aboriginal consultation and engagement is taking place.

There was a great networking social after and many people stuck around and exchanged business cards.

Here's one of our most popular, free ebook downloads. Hope you find it useful.  We will be sharing copies of the slides post presentation.
